Dublin Development Partnering With Momentum Global India

Dublin Development is proud to announce our partnership with Momentum Global on the construction of a new addition for the Momentum School in the village of Pratappur in West Bengal, India!

Momentum Global provides education, food, medical support and develops sustainable community solutions for the families in Kolkata. The founders, Mahadeb Mondal and John DeYoung met in 2008 and began working together in the nonprofit world in 2014.  In the short years working together to bring Hope to the Indian Families, Momentum Global has exponentially grown to more than 4 schools in the slums, and 2 schools in the villages, a football club, a women empowerment program, and a community development program to provide clean water to the communities. Momentum Global is dedicated to creating real sustainable solutions to transform communities in India.

Momentum Schools (Village and Slums) increase the opportunity for students to fulfill their dreams through education that is hard to come by in these areas due to financial and impoverished family limitations. Momentum Schools provide hope and the students learn art, history, technology, English, dance, math and science.

Facts on Education

  • Less than half of India’s children between the ages of 6 and 14 attend school.
  • A little over one-third of all children who enroll in grade one reach grade eight.
  • At least 35 million children aged 6 – 14 years do not attend school.
  • In India, only 53% of habitation has a primary school.
  • In India, only 20% of habitation has a secondary school.
  • On average, an upper primary school is 3 km away in 22% of areas under habitations.
  • In nearly 60% of schools, there are less than two teachers to teach grades 1-5.
  • High cost of quality education and need to work to support their families
  • and little interest in studies are the reasons given by 3 in every four drop-outs as the reason they leave.
  • More than 50 percent of girls fail to enroll in school; those that do are likely to drop out by the age of 12.

The new addition to the school will allow for sixty more students to attend, as well as two more teaching positions.  With more than 1,000 families in the area the Momentum School will have room to accommodate a total of 180 students.  The hope and plan is to add a room every year as the children grow.

When presented with the opportunity to provide financial support to Momentum Global for the construction of an addition to a village school we, at Dublin Development were more than happy to commit.  Having worked with Momentum Global since 2019 to provide clean Vivoblu water filters to families in the slums and villages it is near and dear to our hearts. In India and around the world, millions are navigating the COVID-19 pandemic with the added challenge of living without access to safe water. These factors have created urgency to implement effective solutions to increase access to safe water and better health.

Giving back to the community is the cornerstone of Dublin Development, whether in our backyard or around the globe. Dublin is a proud supporter of local non-profits, such as the Porter-Billups Leadership Academy, which provides academic and leadership training to at-risk inner-city youths in Denver; SHIFT, which focuses on eradicating human trafficking; as well as our overseas organizations, such as Momentum Global.  Not only are we grateful for the opportunity to donate monetarily, our co-founder and COO, Shawn Bookout is currently planning another visit to Kolkata and West Bengal in early spring where he can help deliver water filters and visit the schools.  It is so important to the Dublin team to give back and make a positive impact on the world.  We are grateful for our friends in the development/real estate community for supporting us and feel that we have so much to offer those who are less fortunate.
